OptaSense Traffic Monitoring Solution Featured in US Transportation Website
OptaSense was recently featured in an article on the Traffic & Transit website. Traffic & Transit is a supplement of Roads & Bridges magazine, a trade publication dedicated to news and information on the construction and maintenance of US highways and bridges.
The article, “High Resolution Traffic Monitoring at the Speed of Light,” highlights a joint project by OptaSense and the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) for monitoring highway traffic volumes and flow information using the OptaSense Traffic Monitoring Solution. Using existing roadside fiber, OptaSense was able to provide highly accurate and timely traffic flow information along a 20-mile stretch of interstate leading into Downtown Atlanta.
Results of the six-month project have exceed the expectations of GDOT and it intends to assess options to integrate the OptaSense data into its existing traffic management center systems.
